# Alive vs Replit

Replit is best at building and hosting software from a description. Its Agent builds web apps, mobile apps, data dashboards and AI-powered tools and takes them through to deployment, and a free Starter plan lets you try it. Replit also runs work on a schedule, through Routines and Scheduled Deployments, so the difference is where each one starts. In Alive the agent and its trigger come first: a schedule, a webhook or a GitHub event, in Gmail, Drive, Stripe, Linear or GitHub. Building a site or an app is something the same chat does when the work needs one.

## Side by side

| Topic | Alive | Replit |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| What starts the work | A schedule written in plain English, a one-time run, a webhook, or a GitHub event (15 kinds, such as pull requests, pushes and failing checks). Tasks on the board go to an agent now or at a set time. | A message in a chat. Routines, on Core, Pro and Enterprise, run a chat's work on a schedule at intervals of one hour or more. Scheduled Deployments run code on a schedule. |
| Building sites and apps | The chat builds and changes websites and web apps in a project in the cloud with a live preview. Publish to a subdomain as a static site, to a custom domain, or deploy to your own Fly.io account. Native iOS and Android apps are in beta. | Web apps, mobile apps, data dashboards and AI-powered tools, taken through to deployment. Deployment types are Static, Autoscale, Reserved VM and Scheduled. |
| Connected tools | Gmail, Outlook and IMAP, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Sheets, Search Console (read only), Linear, Stripe, Supabase and GitHub. | 100+ integrations, including OpenAI, Stripe and Google Workspace. Routines name Slack, Gmail, Calendar and Linear as connected tools. |
| What a run leaves behind | Every run reads back as a summary or the full log, with its credits. | Each Routine run returns its results to the chat. If a run fails, Replit asks for your attention there. |
| Limits on a run | Run limits and stop rules on each agent. | Core allows up to five active Routines per user and Pro up to 10, each with a per-run budget. |
| Price | Solo €40 a month for one person. Team €200 a month for a team of up to ten. 20% off yearly. | Starter is free. Core from $18 a month and Pro from $90 a month, billed annually. Routines are not on Starter. |
| How you start | Book a 15 minute call with Lars, or leave your email in the box on the homepage. There is no free tier and no self-serve sign-up. | Create an account and start on the free Starter plan. |

## When to choose Replit

- You want to start free. Replit has a Starter plan with free daily usage, and you create an account on the site.
- Building is the job and mobile apps are part of it. Replit lists mobile apps among what Agent builds. Alive builds native iOS and Android apps in beta.
- You want a say in how the app is hosted. Replit offers Static, Autoscale and Reserved VM deployments. Alive publishes a static site to a subdomain or custom domain, or deploys to your own Fly.io account.
- You want to write code and schedule it in the same place. Scheduled Deployments run your code on a schedule without maintaining persistent infrastructure.

## When Alive fits

- You want agents that start from a webhook or a GitHub event as well as a schedule.
- The work lives in Gmail, Google Drive and Sheets, Stripe, Linear or GitHub, and the agent should be a standing job with run limits and stop rules.
- You want every run to read back as a summary or the full log, with its credits.
- You want mail to stay a draft until you send it.
